We are the family, friends, and community members whose lives have been devastated by the unlawful killing of Elder Caqil Omar Abdullahi. We are the people who knew him personally, worked alongside him tirelessly in peace initiatives, and supported his efforts to bring stability to our region.

Elder Omar was a public figure who was always accessible to society. He actively participated in peace processes and was consistently present at the forefront of conflict resolution efforts.

He was a respected community leader, a committed peacemaker, and a man of dignity who dedicated his life to reconciliation and the restoration of peace in a society long affected by civil war, poverty, and violence. Omar ultimately lost his life for the very values he stood for. As his family, friends, and community at large, we are seeking justice and demanding a transparent and thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death, including why Elder Omar was targeted.

We are deeply concerned about the manner in which he was killed, the individuals or entities responsible, and the planning and execution of the attack. His death has instilled fear and insecurity within the community, leaving people with the belief that they are no longer safe.
